Public Health / Biology / Physiology
Public health perfectly combines my interest in biology with my commitment to expanding healthcare access, helping more people improve their quality of life. I aspire to tackle health challenges holistically—addressing physical, mental, and emotional aspects—while also focusing on social justice and policy to build healthier, more equitable communities. Through my involvement in activities like SNP-REACH and the Epidemically Club at school, I have been able to deepen my passion for public health, continuously learning about the field while also educating others along the way.
Physical Therapist Aide
During the summer after 9th grade, I started interning at Unicare Physical Therapy, a local clinic that provides physical therapy and acupuncture, specializing in sports injuries, pain management, job-related injuries, post-surgery rehabilitation, and more. Getting this early exposure to a professional work environment sparked my thoughts about my future and long-term career goals. The field of physical therapy truly fascinates me, and I’m excited to continue exploring similar experiences in college.
Stanford Neurodiversity Project, co-created website Collegeable, presented at Neurodiversity Summit 2023. SNP-REACH greatly expanded my perspectives on new research and approaches to inclusion for the neurodiverse community.
Co-created website catered towards neurodiverse individuals in their search for college accomodations!
My Team
Me along with my peers at the camp site. Loved our camp counselors and props to Dr. Lawrence Fung!
Epidemically
On the right, you'll find a collection of articles I’ve written through my club at Castro Valley High. They are on the field of epidemiology and its impact across various social areas and research topics. Each article offers insights into how epidemiology deepens our understanding of diverse health challenges, guiding evidence-based solutions for a healthier, more informed future.
Biotechnology
During my junior year, I took a Biotechnology course and gained proficiency in a variety of lab techniques, including micro-pipetting (P-20, P-200, P-1000), Spectrophotometry, Chromatography, Electrophoresis, and PCR. A field trip to Genentech, a leading biotech company, gave me the chance to see these processes applied on a much larger scale, broadening my perspective on research and its real-world impact.
Coursera
To deepen my passion for Public Health and Physiology, I enrolled in courses from Yale, the University of Toronto, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My goal wasn’t to earn certifications, but to genuinely expand my knowledge in areas I care about. These courses had a lasting impact: the Epidemiology and Global Health course inspired me to start a club chapter at my school, while the Physical Therapy course provided valuable insights for my internship at Unicare Physical Therapy.
